Terms and Conditions for Mingary Castle

Whilst every effort has been made to ensure accuracy, please note that facilities and services may alter at any time. We cannot be held responsible for any changes that arise, or errors that might have occurred. All other details are accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time of publication. However, we cannot be held responsible for changes which occur from time to time.

Reservations at Mingary Castle

To make any enquiries or reservations please use the Contact page, which will allow you to get in touch with us directly. Our website also allows you to check room availability and make your booking. Alternatively please call us on 01972 510 715 or e-mail enquiries@mingarycastle.com. Once reserved, you will receive an e-mail including details of your reservation.

A non-refundable deposit will always be required to secure your booking. The deposit amount will be confirmed to you at the time of booking.

It may be possible to provisionally book with us for a short period. Please get in touch with us to discuss.

Bookings are accepted by us from people over the age of 18. The person making the booking will be held responsible for all members of their party while in the castle. We reserve the right to refuse or revoke a booking from any person (or party) who may in our opinion be unsuitable to stay at Mingary Castle.

Children are most welcome to stay at the castle. Some rooms can accommodate a baby cot or additional single bed. Please get in touch with us to discuss if you have additional requirements.

Rooms at Mingary Castle may only be occupied by up to two people. The McCain suite which has two bedrooms and can be occupied by up to 4 people.

Please note that we do not allow camping within the Castle grounds.

We do not expect to have to make changes to your booking. However, some circumstances beyond our control may result in changes and/or cancellations. We will only amend or cancel your booking if absolutely necessary. If required, we will notify you as soon as we can, and try to make all possible alternative arrangements to meet your requirements. We accept no liability whatsoever for any loss you suffer as a result of any amendment or cancellation made to bookings by Mingary Castle staff.

Pricing and payment

At the time of booking we can accept debit or credit cards over the phone (with the exception of Diners Club). Once you are at Mingary you can pay by cash, credit or debit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express. All payments to us must be made in Sterling. We are not responsible for any bank charges arising from the transfer of funds to us.

Prices quoted by us include VAT at the prevailing rate. VAT invoices can be provided on request.

We periodically review and amend the prices we charge for our rooms and dining experiences. For the most up to date pricing information, please check our Mingary Castle page.

Pricing is correct at the time of booking. We reserve the right to change or withdraw an offer at any time.

Arrival

Mingary Castle is located on Ardnamurchan’s southern coast. You can view directions here. Directions to the castle will also be included in your booking confirmation and please call us for detailed directions to the castle. Please bear in mind that mobile reception is not always available in this remote location, so it is best to plan your route in advance.

When you arrive at Mingary Castle, please make your way across the drawbridge into the castle and from the courtyard enter the main building on your left. Please ring the reception bell next to the staircase, and a member of our team will be there as soon as possible to welcome you and show you to your room.

Check-in and Check-out

We look forward to welcoming you from 4pm on the day of arrival, and would ask you to vacate your room by 10am on the day of departure.

It may be possible to arrange for an earlier arrival or later departure. Please get in touch with us to discuss. If your room is not available when you arrive, we will welcome you into our sitting room.

Our office is situated on the 1st floor across from the sitting room where a member of staff will be happy to answer any queries.

Castle Grounds and Facilities

Please note that we do not allow camping or occupied motorhomes within the Castle grounds.

Wi-fi is available throughout the castle, however may be limited or unavailable in certain rooms or can be unavailable at times due to circumstances beyond our control. Please contact a member of staff for alternative options.

Please take care when walking in and around the castle as grounds can be uneven and the courtyard and the steps on the castle battlements can be narrow and/or slippery. The castle interior includes wooden floors and staircases which can be slippery for some: If you need any help with moving luggage, please notify a member of staff who will try to help.

Access

Due to the historic nature of Mingary Castle the courtyard, entrance and all bedrooms are entered by stairs. Please contact us to discuss any access requirements.

Dining

We forage, grow, fish and rear a lot of our own produce on the estate, which we are very proud to serve to our guests in the Castle. Mingary Castle is in, what we think to be a very beautiful and remote location, and as such, any additional supplies come from a distance away and requires forward planning.

• Breakfast is included in the room rate, and is served between 8 and 9:30 am in the dining room.

We will do everything we can to meet all your food requirements. To avoid any disappointment, we would ask that you please give us as much notice as possible (ideally over 48 hours) if you would like to dine with us for lunch and dinner, and is always subject to availability:-

• Lunch can be provided at £35 per person.

• Picnics can be provided at £15 per person.

• Our chef serves a set tasting menu for dinner at 7.30pm for £70 per person. All guests are served together at one table and should be booked in advance. Due to the delicate and precision preparation, we ask that you arrive no later than 7pm to avoid delays.

If your plans change and you decide to dine with us at short notice, please get in touch with any member of our team who will discuss availability with our chef:-

In the unlikely event that our chef is unavailable, if for example there is an emergency, we will make all possible alternative arrangements to meet your dining requirements.

Food Allergies and Dietary Requirements

Please advise us before your stay if you, or any member of your party have any dietary requirements, allergies or intolerances our chef will endeavour to offer you alternative dishes to meet your requirements.

We adhere to the highest of health and safety regulations, but as is usual for kitchens such as ours in old buildings, we cannot guarantee that our dishes are free from allergens or cross-contamination. All guests dine with us at their own risk.

Refreshments

We offer a selection of teas, coffees, soft drinks and a well-stocked bar in our sitting room on the first floor.

Please ask any member of team to serve you, or please feel free to help yourself. A price list and notepad is available and we would ask that if you do help yourself, to please let us know.

You will appreciate that due to the nature of Mingary, there are no mini-bars or tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms.

You are welcome to take drinks to your room, but would ask that you be very careful around the old Castle and its interior. We cannot accept no liability for any accidents.

Your room

Our team enter each room daily to service it and to ensure high standards. We provide a “no service required” sign to hang on your door, if you do not wish us to disturb you.

Our team or contractors may also need to access your accommodation. Unless in the case of emergency, we will do our best to let you know in advance.

Cancelling your booking

If you cancel, then we will charge you 10% of the balance of the agreed price payable.

If you cancel less than 14 days in advance, then we may charge you up to 50% of the balance of the agreed price payable.

If you cancel less than 72 hours before 10am on the day of your arrival, then we may charge you the full balance of the agreed price payable.

Complaints

Please report any complaints to the castle manager or email manager@mingarycastle.com. We take your feedback seriously and will endeavour to provide a solution to any complaints. We are not willing to participate in Alternative Dispute Resolution proceedings.

Damages

We want all our guests to enjoy their stay. We hope that you will respect our property and leave it as you find it. We appreciate that accidents can happen, and would ask that you please notify management member of our team as soon as possible. We reserve the right to charge for damage caused by misuse or negligence by you, any pet or member of your party.

We will not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered by you, any member of your party, belongings, vehicles or pets, sustained in or around our Castle.

Lost property

Any items left behind by you will be kept in our lost property for 6 weeks. Items not claimed within this period will be disposed of as appropriate.

Animals

We love dogs and we will do our best to accommodate them. If your dog is well behaved, please contact us prior to your booking to discuss if it will be possible for your dog to join you during your visit. Before we consent, we must consider the other guests booked at the time of stay.

As the castle contains antique furniture we must ask that you do not allow your dog to sit on or damage it. Our Castle is situated beside a working farm and so your dog must be kept on a lead at all times. Please also remove all mess from the garden grounds. Dogs must not be left unsupervised.

Unfortunately cats and other pets are not allowed.
