A 13th Century Grandeur for 21st Century Living

Sitting proud on it’s own rocky outcrop, the distinctive silhouette of Mingary Castle has looked over the Sound of Mull for centuries. The seat of Clan MacIain for over 300 years, it’s one of Scotland’s true hidden gems. Until early 2016, the Castle was all but an abandoned ruin. After three years of meticulously orchestrated restoration work, its impressive ranges now house an elegant combination of luxurious accommodation and history.

Set amongst magnificent scenery, typical of this part of the world – here at Mingary you’ll find fine dining, gorgeous Georgian style, vivid traces of history and a world-class standard of hospitality.

"It is a bit of a drive, but so worth it. The views of sunset from here are outstanding. The staff are excellent and really enjoyed the tea and cookies when we arrived. The castle has been completely redone and I can truly say that I loved it. We stayed in the suite which included a full kitchen, living room, bedroom upstairs. The kitchen was stocked with tea, coffee, stove, fridge, etc. Since it is a ways out, you could purchase your own food and bring with you if you stayed in this suite." Griffin, Georgia, United States
"Staying at Mingary Castle was the highlight of our trip to Scotland! We stayed four nights, here in August and had a wonderful time. We came up from Oban, and unfortunately didn't realize we needed to make a reservation for the ferry to Mull so we ended up driving the long route. Beware, this is mostly single track roads which take 2-3 times longer than what you anticipate. The castle has been completely restored and is absolutely beautiful! There are a total of five bedrooms, ours was up a couple flights of stairs, and had a double size four poster bed and a huge bathroom with a rolled top copper tub. We loved having dinner with and getting to know all the other guests every night except once, when we went to the pub to eat. After dinner, we would go up to the sitting room to have a drink and wind down a little before heading to bed. It was wonderful finding out where everyone was from and what brought them to the castle. I'd also like to make sure to mention that both the chef and apprentice chef both prepared delicious multi course dinners. If you are ever headed up towards the Ardnamurchan peninsula and have a free night, I would recommend booking this one in advance. It seems to fill up pretty quickly."
