Swordle Farm House
Swordle Farm House is situated in an area stepped in History – The oldest structure they have identified is Cladh Aindreis, a cairn which is dated to the Neolithic, around 6,000 years ago. In 2011 the Ardnamurchan Transitions Project archaeologists found a complete Viking boat burial. The boat had been dragged up the beach and placed in an elongate pit. Into this boat a Viking warrior, complete with shield, sword, spear, drinking horn and bronze ring pin, had been laid, the whole then covered in a mound of earth. The grave is dated to around 900AD, and its presence is taken to mean that there was a Viking settlement at Swordle, although no further evidence of this has yet been found.
There is a secluded beach which is just a short walk from the house at the end of a private road, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, boating trip and bbqs. Not to mention a popular place for kids to while away the hours on – making sandcastles, exploring pools and paddling.
There are three double bedrooms and one twin, all of which are en-suite. There’s also an additional toilet on the ground floor. The kitchen has cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. The lounge features a large flat-screen television and internet TV.
Swordle FarmHouse is available from any day of the week with a minimum of 5 nights in the high season.
On occasion, this cottage is available to book for 3 days at a time. Please phone our estate office to check availability.
